Executive Team
Diana Villegas, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO
Dr. Villegas is the original founder of Alpha Orthopaedics. She practiced as an orthopaedic surgeon in public hospitals and private practice in the U.S. and South America and was founder and CEO of Clinica Guayacanes Hospital. Her extensive career in the medical device industry includes leading global scientific and clinical research and technology at Tyco Healthcare, St. Francis Medical Technologies, and Thermage. Dr. Villegas served on the Board of Directors for Sumatec, Flexco, and New Leaf. Dr. Villegas received her M.D. from the University of Caldas in Colombia and her Ph.D. from IASHS in San Francisco. Dr. Villegas has one issued patent, two published patent applications, and one provisional patent application, and has authored a number of scientific papers.
John McPherson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Mr. McPherson has over 20 years experience in Sales and Sales Management in the medical device industry. Previous to Alpha Orthopaedics, Mr. McPherson helped build 3 successful Start up companies including Acufex Microsurgical (sold to Smith and Nephew), Innovasive Devices (Sold to Johnson and Johnson), and Opus Medical (Sold to ArthroCare Corporation). Mr. McPherson received his B.B.A. from the University of Portland.
Gina To, Vice President, Regulatory and Quality
Ms. To has 25 years of experience in the medical device industry in quality assurance, regulatory affairs, verification & validation, software quality assurance, process development and quality systems. Ms. To has held principal and management positions at Varian Oncology Systems, Tyco Healthcare, and most recently Breathe Technologies. Ms. To received her B.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering from UC Davis and her M.S. from Santa Clara University.
Lucy Reckseit, General Counsel
Ms. Reckseit has extensive experience counseling mid to late-stage emerging growth companies. In 1998 she pioneered the "fractional" or part-time general counsel model to address the in-house legal needs of emerging growth companies. Prior to 1998, Ms. Reckseit spent over seven years as in-house counsel for Merit Behavioral Care Corporation, first as Associate General Counsel for its predecessor, American Biodyne, Inc. and then as Vice President, Legal Affairs, before the company was acquired by Magellan Health Services, Inc. Before her tenure at Merit Behavioral Care Corporation, Ms. Reckseit was in a general corporate and securities practice with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, in Palo Alto, California.
Deborah Gallego, Controller
Ms. Gallego has over 25 years of experience with both small privately held manufacturing companies and publicly traded medical device and retail companies. She has held the title of Controller and Director of Accounting at Timberline Gas Logs, The North Face, Otis Spunkmeyer, and most recently, Solta Medical. Ms. Gallego received her BA Business Accounting from California State University Fullerton.
